Moisture and Dust No Sweat for Aquaris
To celebrate the release of Australia’s first waterproof hearing aid, the Neurosensory Unit in Toowoomba is offering free, no obligation trials of Aquaris for all people who can be successfully fitted. Audiologist Dominic Doherty at the Neurosensory Unit in Toowoomba recognises the advantages for his clients, “Aquaris is the ideal solution for individuals who spend a lot of time in humid or dusty environments. Even excessive perspiration is no sweat for Aquaris. Its completely waterproof housing safeguards against corrosion, so wearers can enjoy the use of their hearing aids longer without worrying about repairs.”
Siemens Aquaris is a revolutionary new hearing aid that is music to the ears of people with a hearing loss. Most hearing solutions require wearers to completely avoid dirt and moisture to prevent damage and corrosion, making the heat and dust of life outdoors on the Darling Downs difficult to manage. Aquaris shatters these previous limitations because it is not only water and dust resistant, it’s truly water and dust proof.
Aquaris has the internationally recognised Ingress Protection Rating IP57. Among other tests, this means it has been submerged in water one metre deep for 30 minutes with no damage to the instrument. Aquaris is not only watertight, but also dustproof, robust and impact-resistant. These qualities are achieved by features such as a special casing with a silicone sealed battery compartment, a watertight microphone membrane and a nano-coated protective cover.
“Consider a farmer who throughout the course of their day, perspires a lot because of their working environment. Especially in the case of a behind-the-ear instrument, beads of perspiration form in the hair along the top of the hearing aid. With daily exposure to these conditions it is only a matter of time before moisture seeps into the cracks and openings along the surface of the hearing aid hindering operation. With Aquaris, this scenario is no longer a concern,” said Dominic.
