Hearing Aid Services:
Hearing Aid Assessment, Fitting & Rehabilitation
The situations where a person has difficulty hearing can vary greatly, as do the hearing aid options available At the Neurosensory Unit, we pride ourselves on finding the best solution for each of our clients based on their hearing needs.
As we are independent, we source hearing aids from all manufacturers. This means that our clients benefit from having the widest choice of aids. The process of assessing a person’s communication difficulties, finding the best option, and fine-tuning the device to suit someone’s individual needs is referred to as a rehabilitation program. Rehabilitation programs like this are generally funded in two ways- privately (health funds may cover some of the costs), or fully subsidised through a third party such as the Government department, The Office of Hearing Services.
All of our clinics are fully accredited to provide rehabilitation programs for clients eligible for the Government’s Office of Hearing Services or the Voucher Scheme, eg. For pension card holders, DVA white- and gold-card holders. We also provide private rehabilitation program at all of our clinics.
Hearing aid technology is continually developing and improvements are being seen with new products every 6 to 12 months. This may mean that people who tried a hearing aid 2 or 3 years ago and were unsatisfied with the sound may find they are very happy using a newer model.
The price of a hearing aid varies depending on the type of technology in the device. At the Neurosensory Unit we offer a professional service pricing policy i.e. we charge a set professional service fee which covers, a full rehabilitation program including counselling and support, as well as ongoing repairs and maintenance of the aid as required. This is the only fee added to the wholesale cost of the hearing aid, therefore the costs for hearing devices are very competitive.
We pay no commissions to our clinicians for “selling” aids or reaching sales targets, as many other clinics now do. We also offer a significant discount to the fee when fitting two hearing aids, rather than doubling the professional services fees.
